Dada...WAH!

Henry has been a little more fussy than usual this week. Can't tell if he's getting more teeth or if it's something to do with his tummy. However, we are still able to get some fun moments in with him in between the wails of discomfort! The past week or so, Henry has really started talking more - always with the "dadadadadada" and the occasional "blah" or "plah." There's also the whispered "shley shley shley" and the dramatic ending of "pbbblt!" (that's the spitting noise). :)

Here are some pics:

Why are babies so cute when they're next to naked or just plain in the nude?

Wow. Is it just me or does Henry look enormous? Go figure...he's enjoying the root of that observation!

Okay...another fun game of Jim's. Always putting Henry's burp cloth on his head. This one, in particular, tucks very nicely behind his ears. My sweet little nun. Er...

Henry's favorite part of the day is when "dada" comes home. I think by that time of the day, he's had enough of me and is excited to see what silliness Jim brings to the table.

I love my dad!

Sometimes I think dads get the short end of the stick when you're raising kids. Here's a shout out to Jim, who is an amazing father and loves his little guy to pieces. :) We love you!

Posture perfect

Jim likes to play this game he invented called "coffee table." He use to play it with Maddie but his new favorite subject is poor little Henry. The idea of the game is to see how much stuff you can stack on the subject without it falling off. Jim could pretty much stack our whole library of books on Maddie without her flinching, but as you can see and probably imagine, babies are of a different breed. I have to say though, Henry has some mad balancing skills (mad = awesome).

Okay, so this picture is out of focus...it's still worth sharing. Henry loves him some zippers (dad's) and the fun "stick your tongue out and I'll stick mine out too" game.

Recently...

Sorry it's been a week or so... Sometimes you find time and sometimes there is just none to spare! We have had a great week. Henry finally sprouted his two bottom teeth and though he is not crawling yet, he is moving something like an inchworm. He hasn't figured out how to have both his bum and his chest up off the ground at the same time, thus, bum up, bum down, inch forward, then push up and smile! :) Henry has also discovered his screaming voice and L O V E S it. I have to say, it is quite funny. It can come out of nowhere. He was squealing with delight before - now it is quite literally screaming. And when he screams once, it's as if he's just remembered he can, and so he does it some more, and then some more. You get the point. Funny boy.

Here are some pics from the past week of Mr. Goofy pants:

It was a cold day, he was a cute and bundled babe.

Daddy put some "bling" on Henry..."fo shizzle!"
(I'm pretty sure this is a choking hazard, but I assure you there was parental supervision)

How our long Sunday afternoon walk ended...STOP IT! How sweet. :)

This is my "get Henry to crawl" view. This is also the look I always get that seems to just say, "What?"

Tune in next time for more on this silly child we adore!

Fun weekend

On Saturday, we got to celebrate Ethan's 1st birthday!

What are these things??

Ah! Horns!

Then on Sunday night, we got to babysit Carson while his mom and Grandma went to see Annie. Carson and Henry actually played quite well together. Carson likes to show Henry how to do everything and Henry likes to stare at Carson, so it works out well. :)

This shot was taken right after Carson handed Henry his burp cloth (in Henry's right hand). He must have thought he needed help with the drooling issue.

What has their full attention you ask? Baby Bach (Baby Einstein)!

Friends and cake and boys and toys all make for a great weekend.

No you didn't

I know I did not pull a white/silver hair out of my head this morning.

Poor baby

So, today I watched Henry get scared for the first time. Everyone always talks about how Henry has the saddest sad faces...you should have seen him today! I nearly cried myself!

We were walking out of Albertsons - him in the cart, me pushing (duh) - and we had to stop to let an armored money truck go by. It had been stopped, so as it switched over to "drive" it made that loud hissing air sound. You know the one. Like busses make sometimes. Anyhow, it was super-loud and we were just a few feet away - it even scared me.

So I look down at Henry and he's looking at me with the biggest eyes I have ever seen and slowly, slowly his face rumples up into the saddest cry I have ever heard. We're talking huge alligator tears here. Of course, I laughed. :) He was too cute. Don't worry, I comforted him, too, and told him it also scared me.

The sweetest thing is that he didn't calm down until I picked him up. I always love that part.

I was playing...and then the dog ran away...and the cat was acting all sneaky...do you hear something?

If you don't get it, nevermind.

Grandma & me

We had so much fun with my mom being here the last 5 days! Of course, we did lots of shopping and Henry has some super-cute new outfits and some new books (thanks, mom!). Grandma also had lots of fun just playing with our baby boy and making his dimple come out. :) Jim and I got to go out to a movie one night and go night skiing another night, so that was a special treat for us and my mom had some one-on-one time with Henry. I know he loved it. Now she is gone and I've already cried and we already miss her so much, but we're so glad she was able to be here!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ETHAN!

I know it's not our big day, but we are also in disbelief at how fast a year went by!

Here are some fun/sweet/cute memories of your first days as we knew them...

Carson meets Ethan...how cute!

Cutie patootie

One of the funniest things I have every seen. Please look at little Myrna next to long Jim.

Baby Ethan, we all love you so much! You are such a sweet boy with a smile for everyone and we love being a part of your life!

Insomnia

What is wrong with me??? I can't remember the last time I couldn't sleep. I am so tired and my eyes are burning yet sleep doesn't come. You know when that happens and you keep looking at the clock and you get so mad? Grrrr. So mad right now. And you keep thinking about how many more hours you have to sleep and they keep getting less and less... Grrr... I've read so many times that if you are experiencing insomnia that you should get up and do something until you feel like you're right on the edge of sleeping. So here I am...blogging. I better fall right to sleep when I get back in bed. It takes a lot for me to get up out of my warm bed and come to the freezing computer room. Grrr....

Crawling

No, no, no...Henry is not crawling yet. I've just been putting him up on his hands and knees to get used to the feeling. Most of the time, he looks at me like, "Wow, this is neat!" However, as you can see below, there is also the "I don't want to and you can't make me!" Unfortunately, the latter is the only one I captured on film. Enjoy!

This could be cool.

Nope. I've had enough.

Mama, I said no!

I suppose it's a start.

My smiley baby

As most of you who are reading this know, our dear little Henry is quite a serious baby, but every now and then he will delight us with smiles and silliness. Thank heavens for digital cameras that can catch every second, just in case! Here are some pics from the past couple days...

He doesn't quite understand how to make the "gansta" face I was asking for...but this is okay. I like to think he is saying, "Hey!" (spoken like, "Haaaaaay").

Still his favorite time of day! (Thanks, Jenna, for letting us borrow the awesome tub!)

Dearest daddy likes to buy Henry jackets and hats. "Steph, they were all 1/2 off!" Hmmm...why does that sound so familiar? Oh yeah. It must be the 20 jackets and 50 hats Jim has in our coat closet. You know...one for light rain, one for heavy rain, one for running in wind, one for running in fog... Like father, like son! I guess that's okay. And I gotta admit, he looks pretty darn cute! :)

tooth

Henry is for sure getting a tooth. This was taken a few days ago, but you can see the white bud of the front right (his) tooth, which is now starting its way through the gums. I have to say...it's nice to have a reason for some occasional grumpiness. :)

Carson and cameras

I know this is the third blog I've done today, but I had too many cute pictures to share! I felt like I needed to post these adorable and funny pics of our little ham, Carson. All you have to do is take a camera out and Carson is smiling from ear to ear for you, usually right up close to the lens. :) How could you not love his squinty eyes and toothy smile? We are so glad to be "Auntie" Steph and "Uncle" Jim.
