Our Day At the Zoo

We went to the zoo yesterday because it was a GORGEOUS day. Henry's first trip to the zoo was fabulous...he loved it! I think he was as excited to see all the kids in their Halloween costumes as he was to see the animals. :) Here are a few pictures to share our fun day.

This was on the MAX. He said he was ready to be there already.

Warm underlayer...CHECK!

On Saturday, Jim, Henry and I went up to play in the snow. I have some videos of that but that will have to wait for when I really have some time. To hold you in suspense, I will say we went sledding with Henry...and he did not think it was the coolest.

Anyhoo, I was fretting about what Henry should wear to keep warm and I found this at the bottom of one of his drawers. It's the onesie we bought for him to sleep in during our July 4th camping trip this year and though it is a bit snug, it did the trick! We layered on some other pieces once we got there but this is what he wore in the car and to lunch! HA! He was so funny looking (in a cute way). Here are some pics of his awesome attire:

Why are you laughing at me?

Let's go, folks!

I said LET'S GO, mom.

And so we went. Stay tuned.

Thankful

You know when you have those moments when you are overcome with gratitude for something or someone? I had one of those moments last night on my way home from choir. I was realizing how lucky I am to have such an amazing husband. He works hard all week so we can afford to live and eat and on top of that, he watches Henry for me every Thursday night (choir) and a lot of weekends when I'm involved in music at church. On top of THAT, he has allowed me to have some really fun days with my girlfriends lately, and for that I am incredibly thankful. Moms need a break, too, and Jim doesn't hesitate to let me have some "me" time. I struggle a lot with the guilt factor of getting to be a stay-at-home mom and spend time with my darling boy all day, every day, but God put this fantastic man in my life who constantly reassures me that he is so glad I can stay home and raise our son. Jim has blown me away with his love for Henry and how naturally and comfortably he adapted to the role of "Father." Awesome father. Totally rad dad. My sweet husband...what a blessing. I love you, Jim!

Little boys

Something has changed. Henry's shoes are dirty. He always wants to "play" outside. His knees and bum are always covered in debris when we come inside. When I take his shoes off, dirt falls out. He loooves rocks and wants to pick up anything that will leave a stain on his clothes or skin. When I say "Shall we go inside now?" he says "No" and shakes his head. He is such a little boy, loving all little boy things like trucks, trains and airplanes - blocks, balls and dogs. We are so enjoying this stage of his life! Just thought I'd share.

Autumn

Wow. This is a lot of leaves.

We should really pick these up, dad.

DAD!!! Not cool.

I think I'll play over here instead.

Don't you just LOVE Fall??

PS Sarah - this is the jacket I was telling you about! Doesn't he look like a miniature one of our husbands (minus the big poof on top of his head)? :)

Blustery Day

Is it just me or did the weather go "POOF!" and change 30 degrees overnight? Not that I'm complaining. I like the colder weather and I'd rather nature water my lawn than us. :)

Today started out with Henry losing his balance on a frisbee and falling forward on the desk. This resulted in bleeding right below and right above the right eye. Let me tell you, it must have felt pretty bad, measuring how loud and long Henry wailed. Very sad. As soon as I was confident there was no eye puncture, Henry was ready to play again. Whew!

For lunch, we had grilled cheese! It was Henry's first time b/c I forget that there is such a thing in the summer. He loved it. Surprised? Anyhow, it's been awhile, so I thought I'd post some pics. Especially for the family members who don't get to see him often.

Can you see his sad eye?

It was time to go outside for a bit. Henry picked out a scarf.

I swear, the moment we step outside, our neighbor's kitten runs right over. He's cute. And he follows Henry everywhere.

This is what Henry does the entire time we're outside. He picks up rocks.

All the food and fresh air pooped him out and now he's is sleeping. I'd better go get some things done!
