Just for fun

Since I just learned how to do this, I'll have to start pulling oldies out. :) This video was taken when Henry was about 9 or 10 weeks old, back when the highlight of our day was when he would wake up and play in our bed with us. This was also right around the time that Henry started cooing more. Oh! I just want to pick him up out of the video and squeeze him. Little baby.

Please note awesome head control.

One more thing...

Henry + cheese = not so sure

I'm 9 months!

Henry turned 9 months on Friday and had his 9 month check-up this morning. As usual, hello tall boy. He weighed in at 22 lbs. 3 oz. (75th percentile), which is pretty good considering his height, coming in at a whopping 31 inches (still off the charts). Good grief. Everything is healthy and normal so yahoo! After talking it over with the doc, we are wondering if Henry is going to skip the crawling stage. He LOVES to pull himself up and stand and walk (with help), but does not like it when he's on his tummy. Anyhoo, I suppose we'll see.

I decided to put Henry's pulling up skills to the test when we got home. Here are some pics of his accomplishments:

Funny kiddo

Henry is funny and funny things happen to him, as is true for most children, I'm sure. I am always glad when we can capture some of those moments on film. And now I would like to share them with you!

Uh...can you say, he likes his food??

Mama, look! I'm petting the kitty!

Um, Henry...I don't think the kitty is as excited as you are about that.

How rude.

Is that....giggling??

Many of you understand our joy in this video...

I thought I should add more to my statement. For those of you who don't know, Henry is a very serious baby. Very observent, very interested in what is going on around him. Jim and I have done some downright embarrassing things to get him to laugh and he has probably let out about 3 chuckles in his entire life. Then yesterday I got him to laugh for about 3 whole minutes!!! So, as you can imagine, it was a pretty exciting day for us. :)

Henry waving!

I cannot believe I figured this out!

Progress!

So, Henry has learned two new things:

1) How to wave, and
2) How to pull forward on his hands and knees to get something.

The second must be one of the steps to crawling...

...but he still ends up like this and gets angry.

And yesterday when he was really angry, I asked him if he wanted to swaddle, since that use to calm him down so.

He said, "No."

HE IS RISEN!

HE IS RISEN INDEED!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter! Ours was jam-packed, but it was great! Our church had 2 services this morning and then we drove up to Vancouver for a YUMMY Easter dinner with my extended family. It was another fun day for mommy to play dress-up with baby boy. :) I have posted some pics of the Easter outfit I mentioned (oh yes, those are hedgehogs on his clothes!). Thanks, mom, for the super-cute duds!

Henry says,
"HAPPY EASTER!"

Daddy days

I have to say, Jim has been such a great help lately. I have had so much going on at church and he has given up pretty much any free time to watch Henry while I'm at church rehearsing or singing. I know he loves to do it and I know Henry sure doesn't mind! There is something special about daddy playtime....it often involves more lifting and throwing than mommy playtime. To say the least, Henry has a lot of fun when it's just him and dad.

1...2...3...BLAST OFF!

Shucks, they're cute. :)

It's hot, it's hot, it's hot out here...

Sorry...I reverted back to my cheerleading days for a second.

Anyhoo. It's so sunny and warm outside! Henry was so sweaty when he woke up from his nap yesterday, that the clothes slowly came off.

Henry-bob no pants munching on the Noah's ark set from Grandma and Grandpa Marr.

Oh snap. I lost my shirt, too.

This morning, Henry was reading his new Bible from Grandma and Grandpa Johnson. He was in love with the pop-out pages. :)

Yeah! Our first romper of the season! How fun!

There are two new accomplishments on Henry's list:

1) Last night he halfway pulled himself up on his toy bin. Well, he at least got his bottom off the floor. Twice. :)
2) This morning he was reaching for some toys that I set (oh-so-kindly) just out of his reach and he scooted forward! Three times! But then he wouldn't do it again. Hmph!

No pressure...just...helping

Henry is still not crawling but will at least hold himself up in the crawling position for several minutes (if we put him there). He'll rock back and forth, but still doesn't quite get how to move. We'll keep working on it! So many people keep saying to enjoy this time while he's not crawling all over the place and while I understand their sentiments, I can't wait for him to crawl. He's a great baby - I really can't complain - but he doesn't like to be left alone (meaning me being more than 3 feet from him) and I end up carrying him everywhere, all day, and let's be honest...he's not a small one! I'll take my chances.

Here are pics of him practicing (please note: chubby thighs):

How's this, mama?

I don't know what I'm doing.

I'm too heavy...I need a rest.

Can we do something else now??

Oh okay, sweet boy. :)

Sunday morning photo shoot

Jim always says to me, "Stop playing dress up with my baby!" Seriously though, how can you not? It's so much fun! Here is Henry dressed for Palm Sunday in what was originally his Easter outfit (from Grandma Johnson). She has now sent another adorable outfit (need I say Gymboree?) which he will wear on Easter instead (please see future post).

Doesn't he look spiffy? Don't forget to notice his saddle shoes. :)
