It's a sunshiny day!

Okay, this is attempt number 3 at this blog post.

We went on another long walk and hit some parks along the way. Here are some pics of our day:

Slides...he loves them!

Park benches...for cute pics. :)

Grass...for new discoveries (a.k.a. stick).

All in all, a fun day. Henry sure loves the outdoors and I love to watch him take it all in. Hard to believe we'll be chasing him around these parks pretty soon!

Thank you Lord - what a life!

Walks

WOW. The weather has just been spectacular lately and Henry and I are trying to take advantage of it! It was a wee bit colder today, but still plenty of sun. We walked across the street and said hello to the neighbor's sheep.

Sheep

Henry and sheep have a moment
"See you later biiiiig booooy." Seriously mom, it's freezing.

And so we went home. Bye bye sheep.

New things and old things

It is so fun to watch your baby learn and grow but funny to notice the things that don't change. I asked Henry's pediatrician if it was okay that he never laughs...he said not to worry, it was just a personality thing. Hmm. Makes me feel like a dud! We know he can do it - we've heard him chuckle 3 times. Oh well. I suppose he'll have to laugh some day. For now, we have a very serious lad on our hands, watching all our goofy attempts to make him laugh with earnestness rather than amusement.

Here are some pics of some new things and some old:

Henry loves him some sweet potatoes
(all homemade food for Henry, thank you - inspired by Sarah)

Okay, he didn't get there by himself, but he loves standing on his own!

Forever with his tongue sticking out

That look that says, "Seriously, what are you doing that for?"

Oh, my serious Henry...how I love thee. =)

6 months and shrinking??

Okay, not really. However, I was completely surprised when we found out today that Henry has LOST 5 ounces since his 4 month appointment! WHAT?!?!? Here's his stats:

Height: 29 1/2 inches (off the charts)
Weight: 19 lbs 13 oz (85th percentile)

Our pediatrician said the weight loss is probably b/c of us dropping one of his feedings after his 4 month appt and also that he's had two colds since then. He wasn't worried at all, since Henry is obviously not starving and will start eating veggies and fruits now. Everything else was totally normal and Henry is doing great! It was cute - Dr. asked if Henry was babbling to us at all and Henry promptly answered him for about 5 minutes, adding lots of bubbles and drool to his words. =) Shots were a treat, as always, but he gets over it pretty quick.

I can't believe our baby boy is 6 months old! Time certainly does fly with babies (in the grand picture). Every day when we go in to get Henry up in the morning, we are greeted with the biggest smiles and most adorable sounds the human ear can hear. Not a day goes by that we don't remember how very blessed we surely are.

Snow Day Part II

I know that everyone on TV was telling us to stay at home and go nowhere, but I made Jim take us to the library so I could get a new book to read. I figure he's driven through worse. Luckily, we didn't encounter any idiot drivers that would make us regret our trip. Since the library is right next to Shute Park, we took the camera along for some fun winter photos while we still could. You never know with Portland...it may be the only snow we see on our doorstep for 5 years!

YAH! Daddy got to come home early. Here's some pics of my boys at the park.
* Look at how their matching blue eyes sparkle. *

The snow is still piled high at our house with kids running and playing in the neighborhood "streets." What more can you ask for?

Deeeeeelicious!

Henry has beeting eating rice cereal for about a week now. Let me just say that there was no hesitation. He saw the spoon come toward his mouth, he opened, he closed and down the throat it went. It was like he had been using a spoon all his life. That's my boy! Food? FOOD!

Jim took this next picture of Henry's hair. I think it's funny.

My back hurts

This is Henry's new favorite mode of transportation and I have to say, it rocks! He loves being up high and looking around and has yet to get crabby while in there. It is so much easier for me to get around if I drop in a store somewhere or even go for a walk. Another benefit is that I believe carrying Henry on my back rather than pushing him in a stroller has helped me shed a few pounds. Can I get a woop, woop!! Don't worry...it's not the backpack making my back hurt. It's picking Henry up off the ground. Hee. =)

Time for change

Since everyone else seems to have changed their template from its original look, I wanted to join in on the fun! I'm having trouble posting pictures so I'll have to have Jim figure that one out.

Jim has left us for 3 days on the annual snowcamping trip with the guys. One day, I'm sure Henry will be excited to join them on their crazy adventures. Jim likes to talk to him about how he is going to hike and camp and snowshoe and ski and I sure hope Henry's up for all of it! As for me, I will either be sitting comfy at home with the heat on or shopping with my friends! That definitely sounds like a better time to me.

I actually had something funny to share that I remembered last night, but it has, of course, already slipped my mind. Oh well! Toodle-loo!

There are many things about this next picture that are funny to me, but I won't name them.

Happy New Year!!
